The Model 3050 intercom system is used where there is only one operator station and one remote station. The system allows for hands free, two-way communication between the operator and customer. During normal operation, the operator station normally is listening to the remote station. Whenever the operator speaks, the remote station is switched from an incoming (remote microphone) to an outgoing (remote speaker) mode. When the operator finishes speaking, the remote station is automatically switched back to a listening (remote microphone) mode.

The 3050 amplifier has three adjustments that are established when the system is installed or operating conditions change. They are outgoing volume, incoming volume and sensitivity. Incoming volume can be changed to adjust for background noise conditions at the remote station. The sensitivity allows adjustment for the volume level at which the circuit will switch.
